Randolph College has been affiliated since its founding with the United Methodist Church, and maintains that supportive church relationship today. Within our college community are practicing Methodists, as well as those who affiliate with many other religious/spiritual traditions and practices from around the globe. Randolph College is very diverse in all ways; we encourage students of all faiths to express their religious convictions within our campus community.
Randolph College students have a myriad of opportunities to participate in spiritual and religious activities at the College and within the greater Lynchburg community. We support students in their spiritual journeys in a variety of ways, and have relationships with a number of churches and houses of faith in the local community who welcome our students as worshipers in their congregations. Many local churches provide transportation for Randolph College students to attend their services. Students are encouraged to contact the Dean of Students Office for a list of local churches and houses of faith that offer transportation. Our beautiful Houston Chapel is also available for students to use for prayer and religious activities.
Randolph College employs a part-time Chaplain who provides spiritual and religious programming and support for our students as needed: Reverend Rachel May maintains an office in the Dean of Students Suite. Rev. May conducts weekly chapel services on Sunday afternoons in the Houston Chapel, and also maintains a schedule of activities that students are welcome to join. She is available for group and individual conferences, provides programs and services related to religious life on campus, and is on call as needed. Students who may wish to meet with our chaplain are encouraged to contact Rev. May at any time via email at: email@example.com or 947-8340.
