Health Insurance

Randolph College requires all full time students to carry a health insurance plan. Students have the option of maintaining primary coverage under a family plan or private insurer, or must enroll in the school-sponsored plan, First Health Network underwritten by Monumental Insurance Company.

If you already have health insurance you are urged to review your existing policy to determine whether the coverage will be available in Lynchburg. Some HMO, PPO and Medicaid arrangements have serious restrictions on where treatment must be obtained. Proof of health insurance coverage is required and can be demonstrated by completing an online waiver found at

If you do not have health insurance coverage, Randolph College offers a Health Insurance Plan for a yearly fee. The College automatically enrolls all students in the Randolph College Health Insurance Plan and the charge is placed on the student's account for the cost of the annual plan, $1,264. This fee provides coverage from August 15, 2013 - August 14, 2014.  All students are charged the Health Insurance fee on the student account for the July 1 billing if they have not completed the online waiver.

Students covered under another health insurance plan are required to waive the Randolph College Insurance Plan.  If you do not waive the Randolph College Health Insurance Plan, the fee will remain as a charge on your account.  If the Randolph College Health Insurance Plan is waived, the charge will be removed

Evidence of alternative health insurance coverage must be received by August 15 by using the online waiver system found at When the waiver has been successfully completed, you will receive a confirmation number.  Print this confirmation and keep a copy for your records.  After successfully waiving the Randolph College Health Insurance Plan, the fee will be removed from the student account.

Accident Insurance

All full-time Randolph College students are also covered by an Individual Student Accident Policy.  This policy assures that if a student is injured during the academic year, there is up to a $5,000 accidental medical benefit in place.  The mandatory plan is a nominal charge of $50 placed on the student account each semester.  Since unforeseen illnesses and accidents do happen, Randolph College is working to facilitate your student's academic success by not having to worry about unforeseen medical bills due to lack of coverage.

The staff in the Dean of Students Office and Health Center will continue to assist students as needed and requested. All full time Randolph College residential students have access to Health Center services however the Health Center will work with all students regarding insurance questions and concerns. Students who live off campus do have the opportunity to enroll in the Student Health Service Option Plan that will give them access to Health Center services. Our excellent staff is ready to work with you to make your experience at Randolph College healthy and successful.
